Operating out of Happy Valley, South Australia, solo singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Lyndo Jaco returns with 3, a three-track EP that marries DIY rock grit with character-driven storytelling. Working like a true home-studio recluse, Jaco performed every instrument himself—layering guitar riffs, driving basslines, steady drum grooves, and lead vocals to shape the release. Recorded overlooking his garden, the project captures an unvarnished, authentic energy while demonstrating a noticeably warmer and more structured production style compared to his earlier work.
Drawing primary inspiration from classic Southern rock and hard rock traditions, 3 uses its guitar-driven backdrop to anchor distinct narrative vignettes. The EP’s lyricism moves through contrasting perspectives and human experiences: one track channels the stubborn loyalty of supporting a sports team through a losing streak in pursuit of a win, another follows the desperate journey of a bungling thief trying to make ends meet, and a third takes a surreal, trippy view of existence by imagining life as a giant sandpit.
The recording process benefited from newly added guitar and bass amplifiers, giving the instruments a clearer, more distinct tone that lets the arrangements breathe without feeling cluttered. By combining hands-on instrumentation with a measured, storytelling approach, Jaco delivers an engaging slice of independent Australian rock that leans into classic roots while carving out its own narrative space.
