With “Shade of My Shadow,” Qymira doesn’t simply release a new single—she unveils a convergence point for years of artistic ambition. Out November 2nd via QiiA Media, the track serves as the official theme for the forthcoming feature film Shadow Transit, and for me, it feels like the moment where all the threads of her multidisciplinary world finally lock into place.

From the first notes, “Shade of My Shadow” carries a sense of scale that immediately separates it from conventional pop or crossover releases. Performed with the Qymira Symphony Orchestra and co-written with Richard Taylor (Boyzone, Westlife, Ronan Keating), the piece unfolds as a luminous orchestral journey, rich in cinematic tension yet deeply personal. There’s grandeur here, but it’s balanced by restraint; quiet passages linger just long enough to let emotion surface before swelling back into something expansive. It mirrors the internal journey of Celeste, the character Qymira portrays in Shadow Transit, blurring the line between performer, composer, and role.
What strikes me most is how naturally Qymira inhabits this space. Her classical background in piano, violin, and voice is evident in the compositional confidence, but the piece never feels academic. Instead, it feels lived-in, shaped by memory and transformation rather than technique alone. Knowing this marks her debut as both lead actress and film score composer only heightens the impact—it’s a bold move, and one that pays off.
The music video elevates the experience further. Directed by Pedring Lopez, it captures an atmosphere of ethereal elegance without tipping into excess. Qymira stands centre stage at the Dolphy Theatre, framed by her orchestra, dressed in a self-designed gown from her emerging fashion line, Qymira Qouture, and adorned with bespoke VERGEZ jewellery created specifically for the film. As scenes from Shadow Transit flicker behind her, the performance becomes a bridge between cinema and symphony. For me, this visual feels less like promotion and more like a declaration of identity.
There’s also something quietly powerful about the symbolism behind this release. The video represents the realisation of six lifelong dreams, and rather than feeling self-congratulatory, it comes across as intentional and earned. Add to that Shadow Transit’s selection as a closing film at QCinema International Film Festival, and it’s clear this project is being positioned with care and confidence.
Ultimately, “Shade of My Shadow” reinforces why Qymira stands apart. She isn’t chasing trends; she’s building a world. One where orchestral music, film, fashion, and storytelling coexist, guided by a clear artistic vision. This single feels like an invitation into that universe—and a promise that what’s coming next will be even more ambitious.
