Electrifying dance-pop artist Kyle Waves has released his new EP Signals, a vibrant and danceable collection that examines the tangled complexities of romantic experiences, whether it’s through the joy of devoted love or the weight of draining toxicity. With unfeigned lyrics that capture both the aching and the endearment in relationships, Waves invites listeners into a space of reflection, transporting them into moments of consolation and understanding. Signals is now available to stream on digital music platforms worldwide.
Released on July 25th, Signals brings audiences on a rollercoaster journey through love’s many stages—from first crushes to heartbreak, temptation, and toxicity. “My new EP is all about the different dynamics in relationships, from the sweet moments of love at first sight, to the complications and toxic circumstances that sometimes arise. I wanted to encapsulate different moments of my personal journey with love and heartbreak and my inner monologue when I was experiencing them,” Waves explains.
Mixed and mastered by Kai Tsao (21 Savage, Kid Cudi) of KLND Audio, the six-track, house-inspired project opens with fan favorites and previously released singles “I Feel Too Much For You” and “Thinking Bout It.” “I Feel Too Much For You” is a pop banger that draws from the tempting emotions of falling for someone you shouldn’t. “Thinking Bout It” shines a light on the nerves of pursuing a new connection, balancing enthusiasm with the skittish feelings of entering uncharted romantic territory. “I’m a romantic person, and there’s really just something about the experience of love at first sight that I find so enticing and inspiring,” Waves says. “It’s shy, and it’s nerve-wracking, but it’s also exciting and joyous.”
The EP continues with the sultry “Make It Right,” produced by Kody Pailin (PAILIN), which delves into themes of lust and jealousy, followed by “Darling (Interlude),” a brief yet evocative moment within the collection. The penultimate track, “Broken Soul,” examines the deep despair of breakups and the lingering questions over how everything unraveled, all set over a captivating beat. The project closes with “In My Heart,” which captures the longing for someone to offer clear signals, only to be met with silence.
“I chose the EP title Signals because I had an image of each song being a different frequency that can be tuned to when searching for what you need. Some people need tenderness and warmth, and some people seek to find a way to express the anger and hurt they feel. This EP to me is like a journey through space where the listener searches for the right sound to follow, the signal that feels best for them,” Waves shares.
Signals follows Waves’ 2023 EP Fragments and marks the beginning of a new musical era for the Singapore-born, New York City-based artist—one defined by choreography-heavy music videos and a more house-inspired sound. Drawing influence from Kylie Minogue, Troye Sivan, Tinashe, and Sade, Waves pairs crisp vocals with a rich tonal palette, while his visual identity and choreographed performances nod to K-Pop figures such as Lexie Lui and Jackson Wang. His work has been featured on OutLoud Radio, played on 987FM in Singapore, and spotlighted by outlets including Queerty, Earmilk, EQ Music, and Ones To Watch. His music also served as the foundation for Going To The Top, a play shown at the Tampa International Fringe Festival.
With six exhilarating tracks—“I Feel Too Much For You,” “Thinking Bout It,” “Make It Right,” “Darling (Interlude),” “Broken Soul,” and “In My Heart”—Signals embodies the spectrum of emotions that people experience in romantic encounters. The EP is available now to stream and download.
